Watershed Organizations within the City

The City of Coon Rapids has developed a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP) in conformance with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) requirements.

The SWPPP is part of a federal program called the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).

This program generally requires that cities with populations greater than 10,000 people obtain a Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4's) permit.

This permit details how storm water will be managed within the City and is based on the City's comprehensive storm water management plan.

The SWPPP's six minimum control measures are as follows:

1. Public education and outreach
2. Public participation and involvement
3. Illicit discharge detection and elimination
4. Construction storm water runofff control
5. Post construction storm water management for new and redevelopment
6. Pollution prevention/good housekeeping for municipal operations
