City of Coon Rapids Logo Chores and More Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who can use Chores & More?

A. Persons who are over 60 or adults with a disability are eligible for Chores & More.

Q. What do you do?

A: Chores & More does minor home repairs, housekeeping and seasonal chores.

Q. What does routine housekeeping include?

A. Routine housekeeping includes vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing the bathroom & kitchen. It can also include laundry. If cupboards, windows, closet, stove and refrigerator are cleaned, it is considered spring or fall cleaning and it is at a higher cost.

Q. Are your workers trustworthy?

A. Chores & More checks personal references, does a background check and a personal interview with each worker. Everything is done that can be - to assure you that the worker is safe.

Q. Who are your workers?

A. The workers are sometimes seniors themselves, but we also use people from all walks of life, depending on the job to be done.

Q. What is the cost?

A. The cost as of January 1, 2008 our suggested donation runs from $14-$17.00, depending on what is done.

Q. How do I get help?

A. All you have to do is call Chores & More (serves all residents of Anoka County with exceptions below) at 763.767.6521, Monday - Thursday 8:00 - 4:30 and speak to the coordinator. We fill out an intake form and then you are assigned a worker, unless there is a waiting list or we can no longer get the work done such as in spring and fall raking.

If you live in Fridley, Columbia Heights, Hill Top or Fridley, call 763.502.5151 and ask for Terri.

Q. How long is your waiting list?

A. For housekeeping it can be up to a month or longer, depending on how many applications we have on file. For minor home repairs there is not usually a waiting list, but a worker may be busy with someone else and you will have to wait your turn.

Q. What if I cannot afford to pay your rate?

A. If you cannot afford to pay the suggested cost, you pay what you can afford to pay. The program will pick up the remaining cost to the worker.

Q. How do I become a worker or a volunteer?

A. Call Chores & More at 763-767-6521 and the coordinator will send out an application. They are kept on file for a year or more. When there is a need, we will call to see if you are still interested, check your references and then do an interview.
