Vicki Parsons had "inherited" an in-ground pool with her house but she didn't want to keep it. Her solution: tear it out and build a backyard oasis! Parsons created a dream get-away just outside her back door – a place to relax, view beautiful flowers, and listen to the calming sounds of a backyard waterfall and the "buzz" of bees. Parsons says it's like taking a vacation without leaving home!
Parsons used the Home for Generations II program to access grants and building permit rebates which made her remodeling project more affordable. Her extensive backyard landscaping project combines boulders, pavers, patios, walkways, gardens, sitting areas, a fire pit and green space, along with a water feature that includes a koi pond and waterfall. In addition to the extensive backyard landscaping, Parsons added a four-season porch to her home (22 feet by 16 feet).
I love sitting in my backyard to relax and I love to have people over because the space is so warm and inviting,
says Parsons. "The Home for Generations II program helped me bring my ideas to reality. It's a great program."
