The City Attorney’s Office consists of 4 staff attorneys and 4 support staff. The attorneys represent the City, advise and represent Coon Rapids elected officials in legal matters concerning the city and provide legal services to City officials and departments. In addition, the department prosecutes gross misdemeanor, misdemeanor and petty misdemeanor crimes for the cities of Coon Rapids and Fridley.
The City Attorney’s Office may provide limited information to citizens regarding City ordinances and resolutions. The department does not provide legal advice or recommendations to private citizens.
Goals
The City Attorney’s Office strives to:
- Deliver high quality, cost-effective legal services that are responsive to the City’s goals and objectives.
- Assist the City in managing its financial exposure to the claims brought against the City.
- Effectively prosecute all petty misdemeanor, misdemeanor, and gross misdemeanor crimes that occur in the cities of Coon Rapids and Fridley.
