About Us

What We Do
Senior Services provides activities, services and educational information for seniors, their families and caregivers. Our programs strive to meet the unique needs of older adults, in a safe, fun environment. Programs offered through Senior Services are provided through funding by the City of Coon Rapids. Adults age 55 and older are welcome to join in our activities. Some activities are free of charge while other activities may require a fee.

Senior Services is staffed by two employees but could not function without the help of hundreds of volunteers! Volunteers help to organize activities, drive the senior transportation van and dozens of other duties! Thank you to all of our volunteers! The Advisory Board also helps to guide decision making and programming at the facility.
Our Mission
Coon Rapids Senior Services will provide services, activities, information and referral to older adults, their families and caregivers in a cost effective manner that will recognize the unique needs of older adults.

Our Vision
Coon Rapids Senior Services will strive to be the best community resource for older adults, their families and caregivers.

  • We will always pursue the highest ethical standards of conduct.
  • We will strive to provide a welcoming environment where an individual can find support during difficult times.
  • We will comply fully with the Americans With Disabilities Act by providing reasonable accommodations which allows persons with disabilities access to our programs and services.
  • We will maintain an attitude that all thoughts, ideas, talents and skills will be shared and encouraged without fear of rejection.
  • How effective we serve our customers can only be measured from within those we touch.
Our History

In 1975, the Super Senior Club was formed by a small group of friends in a church meeting room. This group ultimately grew into what is now known as Coon Rapids Senior Services. As membership increased, they moved their meetings to a fire station and then to the Family Services Center on Coon Rapids Boulevard. In 1996, the Senior Center moved into its current home in the Civic Center, at the end of Coon Rapids City Hall on Robinson Drive. Today we’re going stronger than ever, with more than 33,172 visitors in 2014. The success of the program is largely due to the contributions of nearly 400 volunteers a year! Coon Rapids Senior Services is made possible through the continued support of the City of Coon Rapids.
