It was 50 years ago, this week, that the golf course at Bunker Hills opened for business.
On July 8, golfers and guests came out to mark the milestone of the golf course which has grown over the years from 18 to 36 holes. The celebration included free golf instruction, tours of the facilities and a chance to spin the wheel for various prizes.
"We're celebrating 50 years but really this is about 50 years from now as well so what can we do over the course of the next 5, 10, 15, 20 years to really build towards that future and what will they be saying 50 years from now about what has been accomplished and those are the things that really are exciting to the team at Bunker Hills moving forward," says Tim Anderson, Bunker Hills Golf Club Director.
Kendall’s Tavern & Chophouse also offered food specials and served up celebration cake. Over the years, Bunker Hills Golf Club has been recognized nationally as one of the best public golf courses in the entire country.
