Riverfest returned to the city of Anoka July 14, marking the 20th year for the festival and craft fair. This year more than 170 crafters took part.
“People have to prove that they made this stuff themselves so we get the opportunity to be a little picky,” said Anoka Chamber of Commerce President Peter Turok.
The annual event, held near the banks of the Rum River in downtown Anoka, regularly draws thousands of visitors to the city.
“The goal is ‘ya I was at that event but I found this cool store you should go there.’ That’s the whole reason we do it,” said Turok.
Artists and crafters interested in participating in Riverfest next year are encouraged to apply online after the first of the year at www.anokariverfest.org
