With Thanksgiving less than a week away, the season of giving started early for one Ramsey-based company.Employees from 24Restore and 1-800-BoardUp went on a shopping spree at the Coburns in Ramsey on Wednesday. Turkeys were at the top of the list. Thousands of dollars worth of goods went to a food shelf in Elk River. The Coon Rapids Fire Department is also getting a $5,000 donation to purchase smoke detectors and fire-stoppers."We know from statistics that 60 percent of the fires in Minnesota start in the kitchen so we have automatic canisters we can install, and the people that need them," says Piper. "We can install them at their places and then it can put the fire out if they have a fire on their stove."This is the fourth year 24Restore and 1-800-BoardUp has done the shopping spree give-away. This year they doubled their donation to a whopping 1,800 pounds of food.
