It's certainly been feeling more like winter the last few weeks and before you know it anglers will be hitting Minnesota lakes for a little ice fishing. This weekend, the National Sports Center is hosting the annual Hard Water Ice Fishing Expo presented by Clam Outdoors. There will be plenty to see and do from the latest and greatest stuff in ice fishing to seminars with pro staff and fun for the family including a trout pond. Organizers say ice fishing is the fastest growing category of fishing and vendors are responding."You have floors now inside the hub houses, you have suits that allow you to float if anything was to happen and you fall thru the ice, you have different composite materials like tungsten for jigs, it's denser than lead, it's heavier than lead, it's going to fish faster, you have new gadgetry and electronics for finding fish and locating fish, different types of rods, all sorts of new stuff," says Matt Johnson of Clams Outdoors. The Hard Water Ice Fishing Expo runs Friday (November 16) from 2 to 8 p.m., Saturday (November 17) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday (November 18) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
