As of January 1, any stray animals picked up by our Community Service Officers will be taken to the Animal Humane Society, located at 1411 Main Street NW, Coon Rapids. Owners have five days to claim stray animals and are responsible for fees and costs related to animal care. The City is not responsible for the costs of housing, feeding or animal care while being housed at AHS.Animal Humane Society also keeps stray chickens. If you are an owner who has lost a bird, be sure to check with AHS to see if the bird has been picked up and taken to the facility.
