New Lock Box Program

Senior Lock Box Program

The Coon Rapids Fire Department has lock boxes available for seniors and other at-risk residents that allow first responders to gain quick access to a residence in an emergency. Many businesses are required to have emergency lock boxes for police and fire to use. Now, some residents are realizing the benefits of this option as well.

It could save valuable minutes in an emergency that might otherwise be spent breaking through a locked door or window. The boxes can only be opened by the fire departments in the event of an emergency, and can reduce the time it takes to reach seniors in their home. Because only the fire department has a key that can open the lock boxes, friends, family, and neighbors cannot use this system to access a home.

Lock boxes are available to purchase from the Coon Rapids Fire Department for $154 (holds a single spare key). Larger boxes that hold two keys are available for $214.

To order a lock box for yourself or a loved one, contact Shelley Chapin at  or call 763-767-6429.
