With the cold temperatures this week, the City has helped about forty homeowners and five businesses with frozen pipe or water meter issues. The main issue in most of these cases is that not enough heat from the home was circulating in the area where the water meter is kept, which led to pipes freezing.
The City is responsible for the main water lines in the street and the service lateral, to the shutoff in the homeowner’s yard. So far the City has not had any main lines frozen in the street. Issues have been isolated to individual homes and businesses. The City of Coon Rapids Utilities staff continue to watch the situation closely and will provide further updates if needed.
