A debate over the process of appointing a new county administrator spilled over into the Anoka County Board Meeting this week.
Members of the public turned out to watch to Board vote on several resolutions for the county administrator position. Current administrator Jerry Soma is retiring in May and several members of the board want to appoint chairwoman Rhonda Sivarajah to the position. Others want to open up the search, at least internally, so more people can apply for the job.
In the end, the resolutions failed to pass. The Board plans to meet in a work session next week to define the process for hiring a new county administrator. The previous two administrators were hired without a search.
