A day of fun at Bunker Beach this summer took a scary turn for a little boy and his family but this story has a happy ending thanks to the lifeguards and a park patron.
On Tuesday night, six people received a "Citizen's Award of Merit" for jumping into action to find 2-year-old Declan Hansen. The little boy was found floating face down near the bottom of a water slide the morning of August 7. He was unresponsive and not breathing but was brought back to life by his rescuers.
Declan was transported to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis to get checked out but doctors say he suffered no injuries thanks to the lifesaving efforts of his six rescuers.
