Students Staging Fall Production at ARCC

Close to 20 Anoka-Ramsey Community College students are working to bring “The Way of the World” to the campus’s Performing Arts Center in November.

Theater Instructor Lisa Weaver says the 300-year-old romantic comedy offers many challenges for the actors, including understanding and performing in an archaic language.

“This has been really hard but also really really fun. It’s what I call a ‘chewy play’ which means you really have to dig in and figure stuff out and make sure everyone understands what’s going on and the actors know what they’re saying,” said Weaver.

To help the audience understand the play Weaver included a word glossary in the play’s program.

“There’s a lot of jealousy, a lot of naughtiness. These plays were notoriously sort of naughty, sexy and out there so that’s also been a fun challenge for us,” Weaver said.

The “Way of the World” runs November 1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th and 9th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door on the night of the performance. Anoka-Ramsey students, staff and faculty are given free admission.
