Did you know you can raise backyard chickens in Coon Rapids? But a permit is required and there's a limit of four female chickens per property. No roosters or other fowl are allowed. There's also specific rules for the chicken coop and run.
Before building a coop or purchasing chickens, you must submit the completed Chicken Permit Application, Supplement, and site plan along with payment to the Building Inspections Department at City Hall. A site inspection at your property will be scheduled. After the site inspection, you may build the coop. After your coop has been built, another site inspection of your property will be scheduled. When the final inspection has been passed, a permit will be issued and chickens can be purchased.
