Expansion Funding Update
$316,000 Requested from CAP
Lawmakers have expressed some initial support for the expansion of the Coon Rapids Recycling Center. The plan is currently in the development process to add more storage facilities and improve traffic and parking patterns. The changes would better serve residents, allow more materials to be recycled properly, and create a large recycling “hub” for Styrofoam in the state
Funding through the Capital Assistance Program (CAP) has been requested to pay for half of the cost ($316,000); the City of Coon Rapids would fund the other half ($316,000).
If you use the recycling center and favor an expansion, contact your local legislators to express support for the project. Explain why you think the expansion would be a good use of state and local funds and how you use the facility.
