Coon Rapids Boulevard Reconstruction Project 18-13 – Reconstruction of Coon Rapids Boulevard from Egret Boulevard to the East River Road/Coon Rapids Boulevard Split

Coon Rapids Boulevard is an Anoka County Highway Department owned and maintained roadway, however this reconstruction project is being led by the City of Coon Rapids. The Contractor for this project is S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Joe Miller.

Roadway work next week includes completion of remaining concrete and asphalt construction in the north and southbound Coon Rapids Boulevard outside lanes. Traffic is then planned to switch to the outside lanes early next week, so work can begin on the inside lanes and medians. Specific work planned includes removals, storm sewer structure installations, and aggregate base placement. Work next week may include preparation for the new concrete median barrier installations which will replace existing guardrail segments from the Coon Rapids Boulevard overpass to southeast of Avocet/Zilla Street.

Bridge rehabilitation work will also switch to the inside lanes for both the north and southbound directions of Coon Rapids Boulevard over the BNSF railroad tracks and East River Road.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-1 – 2.6 miles of local City streets (streets near Norway Street and East River Road, 97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street, Norway Street near 107th and 108th Lane, and Avocet Street near 111th Avenue)

The Contractor for this project is Northdale Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Kevin Topp at 320-493-7369. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of July 20 includes boulevard re-establishments in Area 4 (streets east of East River Road – 89^th Avenue, Norway Street, and 86^th Avenue) which involves irrigation repairs and topsoil placement. Work on new street light installations will also take place in Area 4 next week.

Work in Area 1 (Avocet Street, 109^th and 111^th Avenue, 109^th Lane, and Xeon Street) will include drain tile installations. CenterPoint Energy is expected to complete new service installations in Area 1 by mid next week.

Work will continue all next week on the permanent watermain system and services in Area 3 (97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street).

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-2 – 2.3 miles of local and MSA streets (streets near 113^th Avenue and Crooked Lake Boulevard, Crooked Lake Boulevard north of Northdale Boulevard to Gladiola Street, and Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard)

The Contractor for this project is Douglas Kerr Underground. The Contractor’s main contact is Ryan Kerr at 320-515-0046. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of July 20 includes continued concrete installations and grading of gravel base on 113^th Avenue.

Permanent watermain system and storm sewer construction will continue all next week on Crooked Lake Boulevard.

Asphalt pavement is planned to be reclaimed on portions of Riverdale Drive/Northdale Boulevard early next week.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-3 – 2.3 University Avenue north of Main Street (City of Blaine Project)

This project is being administered by the City of Blaine. The Contractor for this project is Dresel Contracting. Project contact information and schedule will be sent via US Mail and posted on the City of Coon Rapids website once available. Work planned for University Avenue during the week of July 20 includes curb removals and re-installations. Grading of the gravel base will also take place.

Anoka County Projects – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass, and Hanson Boulevard from Northdale Boulevard (CSAH 11) to Main Street (CSAH 14)
