Coon Rapids Boulevard Reconstruction Project 18-13 – Reconstruction of Coon Rapids Boulevard from Egret Boulevard to the East River Road/Coon Rapids Boulevard Split

Coon Rapids Boulevard is an Anoka County Highway Department owned and maintained roadway, however this reconstruction project is being led by the City of Coon Rapids. Please direct all questions and concerns regarding this construction project to Mark Hansen, City of Coon Rapids Project Manager and City Engineer. Mark can be reached at 763-767-6465. The Contractor for this project is S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Joe Miller.

This project is now considered substantially complete for all work planned in 2020.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-1 – 2.6 miles of local City streets (streets near Norway Street and East River Road, 97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street, Norway Street near 107th and 108th Lane, and Avocet Street near 111th Avenue)

The Contractor for this project is Northdale Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Kevin Topp at 320-493-7369. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Final cleanup including signing and striping, as well as asphalt pavement joint sawing and sealing, will take place in Area 1 (Avocet Street, 109^th and 111^th Avenue, 109^th Lane, and Xeon Street), Area 3 (97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street), and Area 4 (streets east of East River Road – 89^th Avenue, Norway Street, and 86^th Avenue) within the next couple of weeks. Final wear course paving will take place on 97^th Avenue and Yellowpine Street on Saturday, October 31, 2020.

Final wear course paving is scheduled for the Autumn Knolls neighborhood (Area 2 – Norway Street near 107^th Lane and 108^th Lane) for Friday, November 6. Boulevard reestablishments throughout Autumn Knolls will take place over the next week and a half. The Contractor will return next spring to perform any additional boulevard repairs, including irrigation repairs that could not be accommodated this year.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-2 – 2.3 miles of local and MSA streets (streets near 113^th Avenue and Crooked Lake Boulevard, Crooked Lake Boulevard north of Northdale Boulevard to Gladiola Street, and Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard)

The Contractor for this project is Douglas Kerr Underground. The Contractor’s main contact is Ryan Kerr at 320-515-0046. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of November 2 includes continued boulevard restorations along Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard. The Contractor will return next spring to repair any sodded or seeded areas that do not fully grow due to any late season installations. Final signing and striping will be installed on Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard this coming weekend.

Northdale Boulevard Traffic Signal and Intersection Improvements Project 19-28

This project will construct new medians, ADA pedestrian curb ramps and crosswalks, and a new traffic signal on Northdale Boulevard north of Main Street at the Menards driveway access. The Contractor for this project is Forest Lake Contracting. If property owners have questions or concerns regarding the construction process and schedule, please contact Mark Hansen at 763-767-6465 at the City of Coon Rapids.

The Contractor will construct the planned median access improvements and ADA pedestrian curb ramps on Northdale Boulevard over the next couple of weeks. Due to material fabrication lead times, the traffic signal installation will take place in February or March of 2021. Final turf and striping restorations will take place during the spring of 2021.

Anoka County Projects – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass, and Hanson Boulevard from Northdale Boulevard (CSAH 11) to Main Street (CSAH 14)

Hanson Boulevard is a County road in Coon Rapids (north of Coon Rapids Boulevard). Chris Osterhus is the County’s Construction Supervisor and can be contacted at 763-324-3189.
