Employee Orchard

Thanks to All Who Participated

The Employee Tree Planting was a great success! Eight fruit trees and a mulched path are now available for all staff to enjoy. It was a beautiful day for planting.

Little fruit buds on a branch

Well, Hello Little Ones!

It will likely be a few years before the trees produce harvestable fruit that can be eaten... but to our surprise the superior plum tree is already showing promising signs!

Thanks to the CTN drone team for capturing these images of the garden. In all, there are eight fruit trees and a meandering path. Please stop by sometime to enjoy it first hand.

Energy Action Plan

New Energy Action Plan

The City has a new Energy Action Plan. The Energy Action Plan outlines how Coon Rapids will improve energy efficiency and promote renewable energy citywide over the next few years. Residents, businesses and institutions all have a part to play in helping the City reach its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 35% by 2030.

You can help by increasing the energy efficiency of your home or building, and by exploring renewable energy options. Efficiency can be as easy as installing LED lightbulbs and turning off your electronics when they’re not in use. And installing solar or subscribing to renewable energy through your electric utility provider can help make sure the electricity you do use is sustainable.

The City is leading the way. Coon Rapids continues to prioritize the efficiency of our own buildings to reduce utility bills and responsibly steward our resources.

Learn more about the Energy Action Plan, and what programs and resources are available to you at: coonrapidsmn.gov/energyactionplan.
