Coon Rapids
Outdoor Ice Rinks and Warming Houses Open

Outdoor Rinks and Warming Houses Open Tonight at 5 pm

Outdoor ice rinks and warming houses will open for the season Friday, January 4 at 5 p.m. City crews have built the ice back up to safe conditions and rinks will remain open as long as weather permits this season.

Coon Rapids has four outdoor ice rinks located at:
Riverview Park - 2420 105th Ave.
Sand Creek Park - 1008 Northdale Blvd.
Thorpe Park - 2691 Carlson Drive
Wintercrest Park - 10300 Woodcrest Drive

Warming house hours are Monday - Friday, 5 - 8:30 p.m.
Weekends and school out days - 1 - 8:30 p.m.

Warming houses are closed on holidays.

The Coon Rapids Ice Center, located at 11000 Crooked Lake Blvd. also has an outdoor refrigerated ice rink with public community hockey skating available at various times. Check the Ice Center schedule for more details.

Rinks and warming houses were planned to open Friday, December 21, 2018 but due to continual warm weather conditions prior to that date, the ice that was built up was continuing to deteriorate. After further rain and snow in late December, rinks were still not in good condition to open. City crews have been flooding rinks the past several days, to build the ice back up to safe conditions, and now the goal is to move forward keeping the rinks open as long as possible as weather permits.
