New Apartment Development

Construction is underway on the Riverdale Station Flats, a large apartment development located next to the Riverdale Transit Station at 121st Lane & Northdale Boulevard.

This unique development features a four-story, 184-unit market-rate apartment building, a four-story, 71-unit mixed-income apartment building and a small retail component. Phase two of this project will include a senior apartment building.


Riverdale Station Flats groundbreaking

A groundbreaking event was held October 25, 2018 to celebrate this project which is several years in the making.

It’s the first new general occupancy apartment development in over a decade in the city of Coon Rapids, and it is the first transit-oriented development, conveniently located next to the Riverdale Transit Station featuring Northstar Commuter Rail service, nearby retail shopping opportunities and restaurants. The apartments will feature many amenities including high-end finishes, a dog run, playground equipment, underground parking, and walking paths. Minneapolis-based Sherman Associates is the project developer.

The smaller, 71-unit building is expected to be complete in late 2019 and the larger, 184-unit building is expected to be finished in early 2020.

Allina Health Builds New Customer Experience Center


Allina Health has selected Coon Rapids for the site of its new Customer Experience Center, which will centralize Allina Health call centers and integrate phone and digital capabilities into one location. A dedicated Customer Experience Center will make it easier to navigate the health care system and improve access to care and overall customer experience. By 2020, the center will employ up to 500 people.

The new center, located at 8880 Evergreen Boulevard, Coon Rapids, provides more than 58,000 square feet of space that will be remodeled to accommodate the entire Customer Experience Center team in a facility with state-of-the-art technology. The center is scheduled to start taking calls by April 2019, with the remainder of the transition planned in phases throughout 2019.

Nystrom & Associates is constructing a new medical clinic at the corner of Round Lake and Coon Rapids Boulevards.

Chipotle is remodeling mall space and will soon open a second Coon Rapids location at 2170 Northdale Blvd. NW, in the Village 10 shopping center.


• St. Paul-based Real Estate Equities proposes a 184-unit workforce apartment building on vacant land near the intersection of 94th Avenue and Springbrook Drive. The developer intends to submit applications to the City for land use approval and financing in the coming months. 

The City of Coon Rapids was represented at two events in fall 2018, the Up River real estate broker event and the MNCAR Expo, a trade show where real estate developers and brokers learn about products, services and communities with land available for development projects. These events are designed to broaden Coon Rapids’ reach to industry professionals in the Twin Cities metro area.
