Simple Recycling

Simple Recycling Ends Soon

The final weeks of Simple Recycling are here. The pickup service, which collects textiles and household goods at your curb, will end in Coon Rapids on July 3.

While the free program collects about 4,500 pounds of recyclables through orange curbside bags each month in Coon Rapids, the amount falls short of Simple Recycling’s goal.

But you CAN still recycle textiles! Bring clothing, shoes and other items to the Coon Rapids Recycling Center. Click to see a complete list of accepted items. Another great option is to donate household goods at local thrift stores.

Paper Shredding

Need to Shred?

When and Where to Shred Paper

Recently, Coon Rapids Recycling Center has received lots of questions about paper shredding in the city!

Here is all the information you need to know about when & where to shred paper.

You can also learn more on the City website.

Self-Serve Paper Shredders

Option #1 - Self-Serve Paper Shredders

The Recycling Center has two self-serve paper shredders available to the public every day the facility is open.

Residents (16 years and older) must shred the paper themselves, inserting small stacks at a time. Staff is not available to assist with self-serve shredders.

The self-serve shredders are intended for
smaller amounts of shredding. Please limit to one box per visit.

The current hours of operation are: Tue/Thu, 1-7 p.m. & Mon/Wed/Sat, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Paper Shredding Truck

Option #2 - Quarterly Shredding Events

Large shredding trucks are available at Coon Rapids Recycling Center four times a year.

During the quarterly shredding events, boxes of paper can be dumped in their entirety. It is not necessary to remove paper clips, staples or rubber bands before shredding.

These Saturday events are intended for larger shredding needs. Residents can bring up to five boxes to shred.

The next Shredding Event is Saturday, August 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
