New Housing Underway

Developers Break Ground on Spring House Apartments

Construction has begun on a new 168-unit apartment complex near 94th Avenue and Springbrook Drive. Spring House Apartments will feature several amenities including an outdoor patio with fire pit, bocce ball court, fitness center, tot lot, dog run, underground parking, solid surface counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and in-unit laundry.

All units in the building will maintain rates affordable to households earning 60% of the area’s median income, which is roughly $56,000 a year for a family of four. In 2019, the rent limits corresponded to a maximum of $1,050 for an efficiency unit, $1,124 for a one-bedroom unit, $1,350 for a two-bedroom unit, and $1,560 for a three-bedroom unit.

Regional Partnership

Strengthening Business Climate

The Anoka County Regional Economic Development Partnership (ACRED) is formed among all 21 communities and Anoka County to strengthen the existing business and economic landscape, along with attracting new investment to the region.

Some of the partnership’s major initiatives include:

Developing a new web site. The web site  www.anokacountysuccess.org includes regional and target industry profiles. It is intended to reach an audience of regional commercial real estate professionals, as well as national site selectors.

Ensuring the region is ready for development. This includes identifying large building vacancies or large lots throughout Anoka County and assisting with marketing. ACRED hosts events for commercial real estate brokers, bankers, and major employers.

Bringing together partners for a regional strategy. The partnership aims to provide stakeholders with an open path of communication with local businesses to prevent missed opportunities and improve business retention and expansion in the area.

ACRED works in concert with city government staff, chambers of commerce, utilities, and other organizations charged with business retention and attraction.

Real Estate Expo

Promoting Coon Rapids

City staff attended the fall Minnesota Association of Commercial Real Estate (MNCAR) Expo at The Depot in downtown Minneapolis in late October. This annual event brings together hundreds of industry experts for networking, exhibits and discussion of business opportunities.

Coon Rapids partnered with Anoka County Regional Economic Development and the cities of Ramsey, St. Francis and East Bethel on a themed booth showcasing the north metro, with a highlight of the growing craft beer scene in Anoka County.  It was a great event!
