Building Renovation Project Nearly Complete at ARCC

After working for more than a year on the project, the renovations on the Nursing and Business building at Anoka-Ramsey Community College are nearly compete. ARCC’s director of facilities recently showed off the new classrooms.

"This is one of the skills labs for our students, Ken Karr said. “All of the classrooms here were built with active learning in mind.”

All of the medical equipment students will get to use is brand new. Sustainability measures were required on this $16.3 million project, which was funded through the state's 2020 legislative session.

"You'll see dots in the glass," Karr said.

Bird glass was installed into a number of windows. All of the window have low-E glass. And the lighting used throughout the building is energy efficient as well.

At the center of the building is a large lecture room which holds up to 82 students. The room can be scheduled for use by a number of different departments on campus, not just business and nursing. This building project has faced supply chain issues when it comes to technology.

"We will not get the technology we anticipated for this building, probably until the end of this year," Karr said.

The new building will welcome students for the fall semester in August. For now they will have to use the current technology while they wait for the enhanced technology components to arrive.
